NEW! Oregon Begins Foreclosure Prevention Effort. In Oregon, struggling homeowners can apply online for the state’s new Mortgage Payment Assistance program, one element of a new four-part effort to help Oregonians head off foreclosure on their homes.  The first program, Mortgage Payment Assistance, is available beginning December 10, 2010 and will help 5,000 unemployed or financially distressed homeowners in Oregon pay their mortgage for up to one year.  To find out more about this new homeownership stabilization initiative go to www.oregonhomeownerhelp.org or call 1-888-995-HOPE (4673).
